Kendric Vineyards - 2023 Petaluma Gap | Marin County Rosé of Pinot Noir
Picked early for crispness and verve. A mix of stainless and barrel fermented lots. Small amounts of similarly early picked viognier and chardonnay blended in. Floral, barely ripe strawberry, citrus, and edging toward the white part of the watermelon tang. The '23 is still suited to poolside quaffing, but it's not quite as frivolous as past vintages. It has a bit of wet stone grip that gives it a bit more mineral gravitas than other rosés I've made. So, briefly pause the quaffing to pay a little bit of attention. Then, get right back to it, with abandon.
Jancis Robinson, 5/27/24, 17/20 pts -- "Light baby pink. Aromas of berries and watermelon with a hint of citrus peel. Wonderfully bright citrus-peel and rose-hip flavours mix with watermelon rind and a hint of white flowers. Bright, juicy and crisp with excellent acidity. Yum. (AY)"
